What You’ll be Up To:

• Provide an epic experience for our guests at all times
• Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates the performance of direct reports
• Responsible for general maintenance of restaurant, reporting, repairs or replacements
• Designates specific responsibilities to the Assistant Restaurant Manager
• Assigns work schedules, time off and other duties to all restaurant personnel
• Orders, manages and controls the inventory of all equipment as deemed necessary for the daily operation of their restaurant
• Supervises and assists the Assistant Restaurant Manager to maintain a high level of service
• Has a thorough understanding of Time and Attendance procedures, shipboard training and is familiar with contracts and work schedules and supporting documentation
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, cooking methods and beverage selections available in their assigned outlet
• Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned restaurant
and/or outlet
• Responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the respective restaurant to which they are assigned including necessary administrative tasks
• Visits each table of their respective restaurant and/or outlet engaging with and receiving feedback regarding the food and service ensuring sailors have the utmost satisfaction
• Ensures all restaurant team members perform and adhere to company guidelines and policies at all times
• Ensures that all restaurant products, equipment and cleaning materials are used in a cost-effective manner
• Informs the Restaurant Operations Manager on all Sailor issues, special requests, suggestions and complaints and where possible, seeks to resolve
• Ensures that Pre-shifts and menu tastings are carried out before each meal according to JOB DESCRIPTION company standard
• Conducts regular inspections of restaurant and outlet areas assigned to ensure proper organization, cleanliness and maintenance
• Ensures that all health rules and regulations such as USPH are maintained and adhered to and where necessary provides training to other members of the restaurant team
• Monitors clear down routines after service and ensures the appearance and condition of all items including cutlery and tableware meet Virgin Voyages’ standards
• Is familiar with all cruise services/features and activations to respond to Sailor’s inquiries accurately
• Ensures compliance with the Company alcohol policy and notifies Restaurant Operations Manager if Sailors/Crew are in danger of breaching
• Ensures cost containment through the use of records, reports, supplies and equipment
• Identifies potential expense reductions through cost control
• Analyzes operational problems and establishes controls
• Reviews timesheets and forwards to the Food & Beverage Director for approval
• Prepares reports and letters utilizing personal computer system and equipment

What's expected and what you'll be up to

Superpowers Required:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Maître d’ or Restaurant Manager onboard a Cruise ship or 4/5 star hotel/resort/restaurant

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred

• Very strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment

• Very strong communication, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills

• Superior customer service, team building and conflict resolution skills

• Passionate about people and able to handle guest complaints with a smile!

• All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position
